Radicals
An app for activists to discover protests and connect with like minded people.
The Idea
The concept is inspired by dating apps but warped to finding other activists and protests in the users area. It can be difficult to get into the world of activism if people don’t have existing connections so the app allows people to find whatever they're looking for most in activism.
Target Market
Anyone that is wanting to get into a new area of activism. Anyone who doesn’t know people who are part of their movement. Anyone who has moved to a new area and wants to get into the activism scene there. Anyone who wants to keep updated on the local protests.
User Needs
The app needs to have options to change between looking for people and looking for protests. It should have all the most relevant information quickly available as well as ways to find out more information and chat further. It needs to have all relevant safety requirements.
Ideation

Initially the app was only going to be for finding likeminded people to make connections with. But I felt it needed the extra element of finding events/protests/
demonstrations.

This gave users more options for outcomes with the app; they could look through people, events or both.

Development

The name ‘Radicals’ came from people using the word to describe activists as being extreme to try and give them a bad reputation. So this app flips the word and reclaims it.

The colour pallet wanted to be loud and proud just like the users. The experience of the app aims to excite the user and get them invigorated to go out and make a change.
